The Orange County Probation Department is the second largest criminal justice agency in Orange County. It has been part of Orange County's continuum of criminal justice services for 98 years.
Probation means the conditional release of an offender under specific terms ordered by the Court. Probation's primary focus is on adult and juvenile offenders who are charged with or convicted of crimes. Under the supervision of the Probation Department, offenders are given the opportunity to redirect their lives and make restitution to their victims.
To accomplish its mission, the department has adopted The Balanced Approach for community protection that equally addresses offender accountability, offender competency and community security.
